This week has been tough on a right sided brain user like me. Figuring out taxes and going to ALL DAY tax seminars has put a serious damper on my creativity and fun level. I mean, it has killed my creativity so much I couldn’t even think about a topic to write a blog post about! In an effort to perk me up and get my brain working again, I packed up my office and headed outside to work today. As I lay there staring at a blank computer screen, I was so frustrated and still blocked up.
I decided to take a break and see what the dogs were doing. When I turned around there was a little lady bug on my leg. Her colors were so vivid against the brown winter grass. Her spots were in perfect unison on each of her shiny wings. All I could think about in that moment were all the cool shots I could get if I just had my macro lens with me. As her wings started fluttering and she flew away I couldn’t help but smile. I was back.
Sometimes all it takes to get your sanity back is to step outside and BE IN THE MOMENT for a second. No cell phones, no email, just you and a little red bug.
I’ll leave you with one of our favorite prayers from my great, great grandfathers book of prayers.
I thank Thee just for life,
The chance to live,
To be alive! So great Thy gift,
If Thou dost nothing give
Beside, it is enough
To Breathe Thy air,
To walk this mountain sod
To feel the play of mighty winds,
To look Thee in the face,
And call Thee God!
