One of the most creative and beautiful ideas I’ve seen in all our years of wedding photography was from Paige and Tim’s wedding a few years ago. I so wish I would have thought of this for our wedding!
Wanting to somehow include and show her love for her Mee Mee on her special day, Paige took the pattern from her grandmother’s china (shown below) and used it in different aspects throughout their wedding day. Her beautiful silk dress was handmade by a talented seamstress in Nashville. The seamstress took the china pattern and sewed it onto various layers of the skirt using rhinestones, pearls and buttons as accents.
You can imagine how amazed I was by her creativity already…but that wasn’t the end of it! We arrived at the reception full of GORGEOUS flowers and tree limbs (I’m sure I’ll do a post about that soon too!) and went back to photograph the cake. The wedding cake ALSO had Mee Mee’s china pattern on it! In fact, the cake was an exact copy of the bottom of Paige’s wedding dress. The repeating layers were of Mee Mee’s china pattern, buttons, and then the pleats at the bottom of her dress.
What a touching and beautiful detail to add to your wedding! I’m sure many guests had no idea about the china pattern and just overlooked the matching cake; but to Paige and Mee Mee, this was a very special and meaningful part of that very big, very perfect, once-in-a-lifetime day. Thanks for letting me share your amazing ideas on how to incorporate loved ones Paige!
